Distance Delivery Preparedness Survey

This survey was designed to solicit unit coordinators to specify the feasibility of delivering their unit via a distance mode of study. It was initially used to aid in planning for a potential campus closure. The survey can be used to support endeavours such as: • Reporting the number of units across a qualification, department or institution that are able to be delivered by distance. • Determining which components of the assessment and/or delivery are viewed as problematic for distance delivery. • Coordinating academic development efforts aimed at assisting unit coordinators to identify opportunities to amend their delivery design and/or make assessment accommodations • Identifying any additional staffing and physical resources which may be required to enable distance delivery for each unit of study.

Guide to Online Discussion Boards

Examination of online learning effectiveness frequently focuses on the success of asynchronous discussion, since it is commonly a core element of online learning, design, management and course delivery. Consequently, asynchronous online discussion boards are one of the most commonly used communication tools in online teaching. At the University of Tasmania, a communication tool is required in every unit MyLO site and so discussion boards, not surprisingly, often serve this purpose.
